Before Corona

There are a lot of things I miss about life before Covid. I miss going out to drink with my friends, I miss not having to make reservations at restaurants, going to $5 movies on Tuesdays, not having to wait in line to get into a store, and I miss my old job at the casino. The list goes on of things I miss, but one thing I miss in particular is the yearly fishing trips I would take with my dad.

We've fished a little bit of everywhere, my favorites being the Florida Keys, and Canada. Fishing in the Keys was the most fun because it's very unpredictable, and you never know what you'll pull up. Ive seen sharks, turtles, pulled lobsters off trees, and the water is warm enough so you can hop right in and go spear gun fishing. Canada on the other hand, is slightly more predictable but is very relaxing and beautiful. The only downside to fishing in Canada is a lot of the fish there have teeth so they will try to fight you.

I know there are a lot of worse things going on in the world, and some people are being affected way worse than others by Covid. This is just one little thing I think about from time to time. I hope by 2022 life can start slowly going back to normal.

  1. Yes, with multiple vaccines being rolled out, life has a chance to return to pre-COVID days :-)

I see you already commented on Ryan's post: https://ryaneverette.blogspot.com/2021/01/carpenter-canyon-creek.html

Maybe check out Carpenter Canyon Creek just outside of Las Vegas?

  2. It's perfectly okay to miss these activities without feeling guilty about it. I think it's sweet that you miss fishing with your dad and I really hope you get to that soon.

  3. Covid really has changed lots of things I miss the buffets here in Las Vegas. I wonder if those will ever be back in the casinos. i used to go to them if I wanted to eat variety types of foods.

  4. I can relate to you on wishing things would go back to normal, even though you know there is so much going on around you. And your mentioning about spear fishing, that sounds amazing! I couldn't switch my goldfish into another bowl with a net, let alone try to catch one with a hook. But that would certainly be an experience! I hope you'll get to do more soon :)

  5. Sounds like the fish are getting a break right now, haha. On a serious note, where are these 5 dollar movies on Tuesdays? I'd explore that.

  6. I'm with you on this.. It's the most unfortunate timing for me that my first semesters in college are online. I miss the traditional classroom setting learning in person rather than virtually.

  8. The "pre" Covid times seem like a life time ago. I miss $5 movie nights as well and new good movies coming out. One of my goals in life is to fish the Florida Keys. I've studied the water and fish there so in-depth I feel like it'll be an amazing time. I've experienced some toothy freshwater fish, like Northern Pike in Michigan. My finger slipped while grabbing it and got sliced right open! Lol

  9. I would love to explore the ocean, but I have such a deep fear for it. Spear gun fishing looks fun but I probably wont be able to get myself to do it
